Ernest Wright was founded in Sheffield in 1902 and has remained a symbol of traditional British craftsmanship ever since. Known for their hand-forged scissors and shears, each pair is made using time-honoured techniques passed down through generations of skilled craftspeople.
The company’s makers, known locally as “putter-togetherers,” carefully match, grind, and balance every blade by hand, ensuring a precision cut and a tool built to last a lifetime. Their work continues Sheffield’s proud heritage of steelworking and fine cutlery, preserving a craft that has all but disappeared elsewhere.
Today, Ernest Wright stands as one of the last remaining handcraft scissor makers in the world, producing tools that embody patience, skill, and enduring British quality.
