The W8 is our interpretation of the classic WWII-era Type II jacket, built with a boxy silhouette. Drawing from the original proportions of mid-century denim jackets, we’ve introduced our own subtle adjustments through volume, balance, and construction.

A slightly dropped shoulder and pleated back create a softer shape with ease through the body, while the dropped front hem references the proportions found on traditional western jackets and pairs naturally with our high rise jeans. Finished with tonal arcuate detailing on the chest pockets, designed to reveal itself gradually through time and wear, alongside a dead-stock 1930s vintage cinch-back buckle.

Made using our core 14oz rinsed selvedge denim, woven in Japan by Collect Mills. The rinse softens the fabric from the outset while retaining the character and depth of the indigo, allowing the jacket to continue ageing beautifully with wear.

Fabric and Trims

  • 14oz raw selvedge denim woven in Japan by Collect Mills
  • Sanforized (pre-shrunk) denim
  • 100% cotton
  • Tonal arcuate on chest pockets
  • Vintage buckle on cinch-back
  • Tobacco-coloured dual duty thread by Coats (polyester core with cotton outer)
  • BLA-branded nickel buttons produced by YKK
  • Branded labels are woven in Wales by GB Labels
  • Cold wash only, or the denim will shrink by 5%
  • Wash inside out with mild detergent or none at all
  • They are Sanforized so will shrink in the length up to 1″, but shouldn’t shrink in the width
  • Raw denim will give up to a 1 1/2″ in the waistband, so the fit should be snug (but not restrictive) to compensate
